The carnival 2022 Not only is it celebrated in a totally atypical month and with an unusual calendar, but it will host a very particular Burial of the Sardine, with the pardon of the mackerel and the burning of a Covid virus as a symbolic element that not only supposes the starting gun for the street carnival, but also the wish for a definitive goodbye to the pandemic.

The Burial of the Sardine According to San Juan will take place on the night of the bonfires, so the day promises to be special. With a more colorful design than usual, the Ni Fú-Ni Fá Afilarmónica Chicharro Brotherhood, which already announced her pardon at the Carnival Queen Election Gala, will accompany, as usual, the float that will lead the ride. The particularity of this year will not make the funeral procession lose one iota of its traditional irreverent and carefree spirit. The chicharreros and chicharreras could thus, unlike other years in which they are fired, welcome the Carnival in the street, after almost a month of contests and galas.

The tour of the cavalcade of mourners It will be the usual one, starting at eight o’clock at night from Juan Pablo II street and going through Méndez Ñúñez, Pilar, Villaba Hervás, La Marina and ending in Plaza de España. The burning of the virus will take place on Avenida Marítima around 10:00 p.m. and later, the dances will begin. On this occasion, there will be two stages that will host the Canarian orchestras that will enliven the night, those located in the Plaza de la Candelaria and the Príncipe.
