This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Guinness record set by Celia Cruz at the Santa Cruz Carnival. This year also a unique carnival group that, precisely, pays homage to the largest, Las Celias, celebrates its 25 years in the chicharrera party. There are actually 26, but the pandemic prevented it from being able to celebrate it last year, so this is well worth a party like the one that was held yesterday at the Nivaria Shopping Center in the Capital, where the exhibition 25 years of history was inaugurated.
Three generations always united to the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, this is how Las Celias can be defined, a group of costumes that since 1996 has not missed a single year of the appointment with Don Carnal.
In the exhibition, which can be visited until July 2, their entire career is reflected and in it you can see dolls with all the designs that the group has worn, including last year’s, to honor the popular Celia Cruz. The inauguration was attended by the mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, and other members of the Corporation.
