SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 8. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has decided to extend the deadline for public display of the draft Master Plan for the Use and Management of the Teide National Park until July 22.

The official publication of this modification will be made in the coming days through the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

The regional councilor responsible for the department, José Antonio Valbuena, underlined the fact that it is still an initial document and that the objective is for this process to have as many contributions as possible to enrich the text and for all groups to feel reflected in the final version that is submitted for approval.

“As happened with the Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition, which became the most participatory in the history of the Canary Islands, we have complemented the mandatory processes of public exposure through specific meetings with groups, entities and public bodies that have interest in this process,” added Valbuena.

The counselor also pointed out that another of the reasons that has led to this modification of the deadline is that some contributions that have already been collected require a more in-depth analysis before their inclusion, which is why we want to “listen to all the sectors involved and reach the greatest consensus possible, without neglecting the objective of conserving and preserving one of the most privileged natural spaces in the Canary Islands”.

José Antonio Valbuena stressed that the Government of the Canary Islands has defended the principle of transparency and real participation in the numerous documents that have been drawn up in this legislature and the PRUG of the Teide National Park “is not going to be an exception”, so encourages citizens and all public and private entities to continue participating in this procedure and to consult the initial draft at the link https://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/medioambiente/temas/parqu… (in the Use and Management Guiding Plans section).

The Ministry recalls in a note that observations and suggestions can be made within the established period in person at the registry offices of the Government of the Canary Islands, in the registries regulated by article 16.4 of the LPACAP or in the electronic office.
