The groups of Santa Cruz Carnival on stage at the Recinto Ferial was, without a doubt, the best of the night. Both at the beginning of the inaugural Gala of the Santa Cruz Carnival 2022, as in its final moment, with the Santa Cruz in Carnival in the background, were the two most emotional moments of a night in which the television vision prevailed that the artistic director, Enrique Camacho, impregnated a show that, for the simple fact to return the party to the public and to the groups, he had almost won everything. A stage converted into a spaceship that, in addition to the participants, also received the public, who enjoyed, on stage, what promised to be an immersive show.
But it was also a night of announcements, perhaps the most important of all being that, for the first time in the history of Carnival, the public will be able to choose the Queen of the Santa Cruz Carnival 2022, or at least participate in that decision, since that, as announced by the current Queen, Sara Cruz, the public, both those who attend the Gala live and those who watch it on Canarian Television, will be able to vote for one of the eight candidates who pass the first screening, which will be the judge. In this vote, the weight of the public will be 15%, while that of the jury will be 85%.
At nine-thirty sharp the Gala began, with the voice of the presenter, Elvis Sanfiel, announcing what everyone was waiting for, “the Santa Cruz Carnival begins”. Later, a quick gala, sprinkled with emotional moments, such as the tribute of all the groups to an “icon” of Carnival, Geni Afonso, who, moved, thanked the recognition of a community for his effort to make Carnival a bigger party. if it fits.
Always behind the stage, last night she became the focus of all eyes, to which, emotionally, she thanked the recognition for doing “what I like most in life”.
After the initial start, the first to go on stage to find out their order of participation were the candidates for Queen of the elders, and they did so hand in hand with the Queen of 2020, Concepción Pérez, who accompanied them in their initial parade.
Thus, at the Gala to be held on June 12, the first to leave will be Francisca Navarro; the second, Magdalena Hernández; the third, Juana Pérez; the fourth, Angeles Ramos; the fifth, Candelaria Goya; in sixth place, Evelina de la Fuente; the seventh to go on stage will be Carmen Rosa Martín, and, in last place, will be María del Carmen Ramos.
The major league draw was punctuated by a small error, when number 1 was confused with number 7, so the order of the affected candidates had to be rectified.
The smallest were the next to know their order of participation and they did so accompanied by the presenters of the Children’s Gala, who “hesitated” the official presenter and even dared to sing a cappella and rap to present the candidates.
