Tenerife accounts total 115 million for works, employment, companies and education

The plenary session of the Cabildo unlocks the inclusion in the 2022 budget of more than 115 million euros of the remaining treasury from last year, which will be destined fundamentally to investments in employment, SMEs, education and strategic works. After the rejection of the five amendments of the PP and the 42 of the CC, the 16 supports of PSOE, Cs and Sí Podemos Canarias make possible the approval. The nationalists (10) voted against again and the popular ones abstained this time.

Among the items, which this time were separated from the Motor Circuit, unlike in the plenary session in April, it is worth highlighting the ten million euros allocated to the renewal of the bus fleet of titsa.

The island president, Pedro Martín, highlights the 14 million euros to support the business fabric and the hiring of unemployed people. Likewise, another 5 million are contemplated to mitigate the rise in energy prices and 4.7 for the works of the Polígono de La Campana, in the municipality of El Rosario.

The extension of credit worth 115,239,625 euros It will make it possible to increase the investments planned for this year in terms of employment and socioeconomic development, education, the primary sector, public infrastructure and strategic works in municipalities.

Martín highlights that this aid package “will allow continuity to be given to two major strategic lines for the development of the Island, launched for the first time in this mandate, such as aid to SMEs and the self-employed, to which we will allocate seven million , and subsidies for the hiring of unemployed people in collaboration with all municipalities. He values that “these have been an important instrument to combat the crisis derived from the pandemic and in which we will invest another seven million because they are still quite necessary.”

The president highlights the subsidies to the municipalities, for five million euros, to mitigate the rise in electricity prices, related to water consumption, mainly in wells. For the distribution, not only the population data will be taken into account, but it will also be linked to those consumptions.

Peter Martin It also refers to the more than six million euros earmarked for the primary sector, which will include direct aid for the marketing of tuna, one million for subsidies to livestock farms and the commissioning of the study of the Livestock Plan of the Island.

With regard to works and strategic infrastructures, the Corporation will add another four million euros to the Cooperation Plan 2022-2025 for the execution of sanitation and supply works. In the same way, the subsidies for the modernization and equipment of cultural infrastructures and the three million to promote the Insular Sports Facilities Program 2022-2026 stand out.

The island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, appeared in plenary to explain what has been done in these almost two years since the adoption of the plenary agreement of June 2020 in defense of the taxi sector on the Island.

Among the eleven points approved then, the call for the Insular Taxi Board and the improvements in the conditions of professionals at the two airports stand out. For the opposition “nothing has been done.” León denies it and specifies that in the sanctioning chapter more than 1,300 files have been opened in addition to increasing inspections against intrusion year after year.
