SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Health Area of La Palma, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, launches tomorrow, Friday, the new Local Clinic of Las Manchas, which will assist patients from the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane.
The entry into operation of this new health center is included in the Immediate Action Health Strategy for the island of La Palma, within the framework of the Special Plan for the Reconstruction of La Palma.
This new office will have a schedule from 08:00 to 15:00 from Monday to Friday and will have a Family Care Unit (FAU), made up of a Family Medicine professional and a Nursing professional.
For the director of the Health Area of La Palma, Kilian Sánchez, “the entry into operation of the Local Clinic of Las Manchas represents another step in the recovery of normality in health care in the areas affected by the volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja and the coverage of the health needs of the population of this area of the Island continues to improve”.
In addition, this health center will be the base of a Basic Life Support ambulance of the Canary Emergency Service, whose hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. This device is moved from the Local Office of Fuencaliente where until now it provided temporary service until the opening of the new office in Las Manchas.
The new Las Manchas Local Clinic is located in premises temporarily donated by the El Paso City Council while the Los Llanos de Aridane City Council has collaborated by providing material to refurbish this premises and that could be used as a health center.
With the launch of this Local Clinic of Las Manchas, the Local Clinic of Fuencaliente, in which until now the reference population of the area was cared for, now has an activity schedule that goes from 08:00 to 20:00 hours.
The director of the Health Area of La Palma thanked the involvement and collaboration of the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane throughout the process of setting up this new health center that replaces the Local Clinic of Todoque, which was destroyed by lava flows from the volcanic eruption.
