Santa Cruz de Tenerife reinforces the control of its beaches at Easter and urges to rationalize the car

The Citizen Security and Emergencies service of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has coordinated the Easter Week device on the beaches that will have the support of different bodies and security forces, Local Police, Civil Protection, technicians and volunteers, rescue service of the Spanish Red Cross and the Natural Environment Unit (UMEN).

The device will deal with the beaches of Las Teresitas, Las Gaviotas, Roque de Las Bodegas, Almáciga and Benijo, without ruling out interventions in other points of the Santa Cruz coast where it is necessary.

For the control in the upper area of Anaga, another of the usual spaces in which the presence of people tends to increase, there will be the UMEN, which will maintain patrols in the area coordinated from the CETRA-Cecopal capital.

It is also expected that in the mountain area, endowments from the Civil Protection volunteer group will collaborate. One of the novelties of this year is that all the resources linked to the municipal device share a single communication channel to intervene in the event of any incident.

Although the restrictions on the capacity or level of occupation of the beaches have already declined, it has been decided to maintain the operation of the traffic lights that warn about the number of vehicles present in the parking lots of the Las Teresitas and Las Gaviotas beaches.

The table on the state of the beaches linked to the municipal website will also be maintained, where the state of the beaches, the indicative flags or if there is any type of limitation can be observed.

The councilor responsible for the Anaga district, Inmaculada Fuentes, has also taken various steps, both with the Tenerife Cabildo Road Conservation service and with the company Titsa, and even with neighborhood groups and several restoration businessmen with the aim that in the beaches avoid possible incidents these days.

Regarding the device, the Local Police has already been providing a specific service on Las Teresitas beach since last weekend, and each day there will be a minimum of five agents working based on the beach, specifically in the police stations located next to the access number five.

The resources and personnel of the Spanish Red Cross will also be reinforced at that point with up to five lifeguards, a nurse, a TES, plus the coordinator and the provision of an ambulance will be present on the main beach in the capital.

Locals of Las Teresitas

The activity of the entertainment venues of Las Teresitas must cease at 9:00 p.m. although they have the fork of one more hour to collect and close the establishments.

For possible security warnings, in addition to verifying the status of the flags on the beach, Las Teresitas has a public address system near accesses 1, 5, 7 and 10.

Although at the moment the adapted bathroom service will not be working, it is possible to loan it to people or family members who need the appropriate elements for it.

In Las Gaviotas there will once again be a health post with the presence of a lifeguard, although the evolution of traffic in the area will also be monitored in case it is necessary for the Local Police to close access for security reasons or to keep circulation open.

The rescue service on the beaches of Roque de Las Bodegas, Almáciga and Benijo will be made up of up to seven lifeguards; a doctor, nurse, TES staff; an ambulance fixed in the area and with the support, if the circumstances of the sea allow it, of a boat with a skipper and one more lifeguard.

Support work is also planned by the Civil Protection Volunteer group on the beaches of the municipality these days.

“We are going to put everything on our side, also counting on the support of the National Police and the Civil Guard, so that these dates are characterized by tranquility and the enjoyment of all the people who will choose our coasts for this reunion with leisure and recreation, almost without restrictions, as we overcome this pandemic that has taken so much from us, ”says the Councilor for Security, Evelyn Alonso, in a note

In addition, he explained that for the beaches in the northern area of Anaga we have reinforced the presence of both police and lifeguards and health personnel, “although once again the challenge will be in the organization and proper functioning of traffic.”

Alonso appealed to respect the existing signage and to “rationalize” the use of private vehicles in that area.

For this reason, he commented, “the City Council will also strengthen urban transport thanks to Titsa, and everything related to improper parking or activities not allowed by those who use caravans in the surroundings of these beaches will be monitored, in particular.”
