Sí Podemos Canarias shows its “satisfaction” for the support of the Cabildo to the Saharawi people with the approval of the motion that it presented in the last plenary session “in defense of the freedom of decision on its future”. It was supported by CC, PP and Cs and the PSOE abstained.
The councilor David Carballo regrets the position maintained by the insular Socialist Group, since “it represents a betrayal of the historic twinning that the Cabildo de Tenerife has shown with the Saharawi people.” Carballo declares that “going against this motion means going against what is dictated by international law in this matter.”
The director of Sí Podemos Canarias criticizes the Tenerife PSOE for “the decision to support what was unilaterally ruled by the Government of Spain.” He considers lost “the opportunity to take advantage of this crazy decision, in a message consistent with the institutional work that this house has done so far.”
