SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 30. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Javier Parrilla, and the Mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, have visited the improvement and paving works that are being carried out on the Lomo Los Pinos agricultural road, an action financed by the Cabildo with 459,825 euros and which aims to increase the safety of the area and improve driving and access to agricultural plots of farmers.
Parrilla highlighted in a note the importance of this action “since the road had a deformable paving and lacked retaining walls, junctions and a rainwater drainage system.”
Thus, he added that its execution is part of the corporation’s commitment to provide the rural sector of the island with adequate infrastructure, “in order to avoid the abandonment of the farms and to perpetuate the characteristic agricultural landscape of the municipalities.”
In this sense, Parilla, who was also accompanied by the CEO of Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, Priscila de León, explained that the works will improve and facilitate access and transportation of agricultural products to an area of 5.31 hectares of vineyards, vegetable gardens, potato crops and temperate fruit trees, among others.
For his part, the mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the works, “which will make this corner of Fasnia much more attractive”, while emphasizing the good coordination between the Cabildo and Town hall.
The head of the municipality also assured that they maintain “permanent contact with the owners of the farms in the area”, to whom they will improve access to their plots, and was convinced “that the result will be a complete success”.
The works include the improvement of the pavement with pigmented concrete with a first layer 18 centimeters thick and a second layer of colored concrete 8 centimeters thick.
WIDTH OF THREE METERS
In the same way, the layout and its slopes will be improved without damaging the rural environment, a width of about three meters will be ensured, as far as possible, with occasional sidings and cobblestones will be built in those places of historical or aesthetic interest, which will allow to stop depending on the weather to access the agricultural estates.
There will also be diversion boxes for irrigation pipes, as well as water passages to favor their blending in with the environment, clad in natural stone from the place.
The work also contemplates making a widening in four curves, about 8 sidings, 2 meters wide, to allow the crossing between vehicles, and trapezoidal entrances to all the farms.
With regard to the existing pipes along the road, all the works associated with their displacement and relocation to accommodate them on the roadside have been included.
During the visit, other matters were discussed, such as the status of the Bardo Viejo agricultural road resurfacing project, which is currently in the drafting phase; collaboration to improve the agricultural water storage and distribution service from the Chifira reservoir or the future location of the agricultural extension agency in the Los Roques area.
