The regional deputy of the Canarian Coalition and organizational secretary of the Tenerife nationalists, Rosa Dávila, and the CC spokesperson at the Los Realejos City Council, María Isabel Pérez, have called on the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Realejo City Council « more protection and urgent conservation actions of the municipality’s heritage, which they consider totally abandoned by public administrations».
Dávila especially regrets the situation of several important examples of royal heritage “such as the house of Agustín Espinosa, the house of José de Viera y Clavijo, the house of the Hacienda de La Gorvorana or the mills of the Hacienda de Los Príncipes”. From CC they demand that the three administrations involved “decidedly bet on the protection and conservation of local heritage as a way to transform the municipality, give it an economic boost and, above all, restore its lost identity through these enclaves that are part of local history. Both Rosa Dávila and Pérez insisted on the situation of abandonment in the house of the surrealist writer Agustín Espinosa, “one of the most representative figures of the avant-garde who placed the municipality and the Islands in an important place within the culture of his time” . For this reason, they demand that the Government of the Canary Islands declare the house, located on García Estrada street, as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) and that a project be developed for the place that revolves around the author and the surrealist group from Tenerife.
