SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 3. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The central government has sent, through the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the transfer resolutions to the autonomous communities and cities for a total of 500 million euros for the construction of social housing within the framework of the Recovery Plan, Transformation and Resilience (PRTR).
Pursuant to this distribution of funds, the Canary Islands will receive 22,955,000 euros to finance the promotion and increase of the public stock of energy-efficient housing, intended for social rental at an affordable price, through the promotion of newly built homes on publicly owned land or rehabilitation of public buildings intended for other uses that increase the public stock of affordable housing for a minimum period of 50 years and with a consumption of non-renewable primary energy that is at least 20% less than the requirements of the Technical Building Code.
The Recovery Plan sets as an objective the construction of 20,000 new homes, which constitutes an opportunity to address the insufficiency of the stock of public housing for rent at a limited price as a necessary instrument to balance the market, increasing supply and favoring access to people and households with fewer resources.
The distribution that is made now is that corresponding to the 2022 annuity, whose distribution was agreed at the Sectorial Conference.
Thus, it is expected that at the beginning of 2023 the rest of the resources (another 500 million euros) will be transferred.
This program, corresponding to investment C.02.I02 ‘Program for the construction of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings’ of the PRTR, is regulated by Royal Decree 853/2021 of October 5, together with the five programs on of residential rehabilitation that develop the investment C02.I01 ‘Rehabilitation program for economic and social recovery in residential environments’ endowed with 3,420 million euros.
FIVE PROGRAMS
For the execution of these five programs – neighborhood rehabilitation, support for rehabilitation offices, building rehabilitation, improvement of energy efficiency and drafting of projects – in the last quarter of 2021 the Ministry transferred 1,151 million euros to all the autonomous communities,
Ceuta and Melilla, establishing another 1,389 million euros in the general budgets for 2022 for their transfer before the end of the year.
The autonomous communities and cities of Ceuta and Melilla have 10 days to accept the resolution, anticipating that the indicated amounts will be transferred in this month of March.
