A report from Puertos Canarios concludes that the Puerto de la Cruz jetty shows deterioration, but is “stable”

A report carried out by Puertos Canarios determines that the shelter breakwater of the Puerto de la Cruz quay (Tenerife) is stable, but has small mismatches in the infrastructure that will be repaired in the coming months, for which 200,000 euros will be allocated.

This is the main conclusion of an analysis commissioned by the entity dependent on the Government of the Canary Islands on the state of the breakwater at the mouth of the pier, and which the general director of Puertos Canarios, Manuel Ortega, has transferred to the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, as reported this Friday by the City Council in a note.

Given the concern raised by the state of the facility, especially with regard to the foundations of the jetty of the quay, the aforementioned report concludes that, although small mismatches are observed in the infrastructure, it has been certified that there are no hidden risks on the breakwater, so there is no risk of collapse, adds the consistory.

“Although the report technically certifies the reality of the jetty and gives us peace of mind, it has been agreed that actions will be launched in the coming months, beginning with the drafting of the project under this report to act on these mismatches to continue guaranteeing in the coming months the stability of the breakwater for years”, the mayor also asserts.

Puertos Canarios has commissioned the drafting of the project to deal with these works, which will consolidate this part of the breakwater that is located at the mouth of the dock.

In addition, the mayor has spoken of the need to undertake comprehensive improvement works that entail repair, beautification and increased security in the dock facilities, “an action widely demanded by the citizens of Porto so that, conserving the essence and space identity, you can enjoy a better experience in one of the most charming enclaves of our city and that is also used by our visitors”.

From Puertos Canarios, this municipal requirement was met with the commitment to study these improvements, in order to present a schedule of actions with the actions planned in the coming months.
