Vice President of Council of Tenerife and spokesman for Ciudadanos (Cs), Enrique Arriaga, said this Monday that its formation has not yet decided on the direction of the vote on the motions presented by the opposition to demand funds for the southern train project because he has not seen them but understands that the only objective of the opposition is “to cloud the government pact.

Speaking to journalists during the presentation of the budgets for the Highways area, he commented that In recent days “many statements have been made” about the project but the texts of both motions have not yet been transferred so “when he sees them”, he will establish a position –although Cs has registered a similar NLP in Congress–.

The southern train does not have a budget for this year — beyond the writing of the Los Cristianos bus interchange project — and Arriaga has criticized the opposition because they have been “playing cat and mouse” throughout the mandate. with their position of support or rejection of this infrastructure.

In your opinion, nationalists and popular try to “seek conflicts where there are none”, emphasizing that “neither the CC nor the PP gave a damn about the southern train.”

MARTIN CRITICIZES THE “INCONGRUENCES” OF CC

The President of the Council, Peter Martinhas questioned the “inconsistencies” of CC throughout the mandate as it has gone from requesting studies to assess the need for the project to launching it now because they believe that “they can wear down the Government”.

In that line, has lamented the “little coherence” that nests in the first group of the opposition and highlighted, however, that the project “has many unknowns” because it is not known how much money the Cabildo will have to contribute.

Martín has pointed out that “it is evident” that the European Union “is not going to pay for the two trains” planned in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, “not even remotely”, and has also questioned the “ignorance” of those who suggest that the project it can start now since the land has not been expropriated nor has the environmental impact statement been processed.

“That lasts for years and in a project as complex as this, much longer,” he indicated, noting that if they thought it was such an important project, “someone could have already worried” about promoting it.
