The construction works of the two new housing blocks in Las Chumberas, with 118 properties one and 79 the other, are advancing at a good pace. Currently, work continues on the construction of the pillars and slabs to raise the structure of both buildings, which, in one of them, begins to appear above the ground, that is, at street level. The forecasts that are considered is that both structures are already fully erected by May of this year.

“The forecast is that the skeletons of the two buildings, the concrete structure, may be finished in May of this year, if things go well,” said Antonio Pérez, architect responsible for the Technical area of the municipal Housing and Services company of La Laguna (Muvisa) of the City Council of La Laguna, managing body responsible for this action.

Likewise, he pointed out that one of the plots, that of the block of 79 dwellings, is somewhat more advanced than the other, with which in this the structure could be earlier, in the month of April. “And then you have to start removing props, putting in the exterior walls, the interiors, the installations…” added the architect in this regard.
At this time, work is continuing to raise these structures, building the pillars and floors. And “what is being seen now, on the plot of 79 homes, is already the encounter with the ground that it would give at street level”, with which “the building begins to appear above the ground at some points ”, indicated Antonio Perez.

In this sense, the architect explained that by locating the future building on a sloping road, street level is not reached at the same time at all points, although he added that “with the next floor we will already be leaving completely below ground” .

Meanwhile, in the other plot of the block of 118 houses, “the slab that would meet a part of the street level is still being executed,” he said.

At the same time, the redevelopment work on the area continues. “There are things that will not be done until the end but, for example, there is a wall in the extension of Volcán Fogo street to connect with Volcán Pacaya, which is being done,” he said. The demolition works of the ten blocks that make up the first phase of the urbanization project, which began in January 2021 and ended in February last year, after which work began to remove the debris and excavation and clearing of the plots up to the planned foundation level for the location of two garage floors in each building, and several technical survey campaigns were carried out to certify that the land was suitable for foundations, in accordance with the specifications of the draft. Subsequently, the foundations began and the structures of both buildings were erected with the pillars and slabs.

In the construction of the block of 118 houses, 9.74 million will be invested and in the second block of 79 houses, 5.9 million. It is estimated that the works will be completed in March 2023.
