The People’s Party claims to the island government that Apply the necessary measures to avoid danger at the intersection between the TF-652 and TF-653 highways., in the municipality of Arona, roads that connect towns such as Las Galletas, Guargacho, Palm-Mar and El Fraile. Councilor Manuel Fernández recalls that this point of the municipality’s road network supports a high density of daily traffic and a high accident rate, being “a strategic area of the municipality of Arona”.
The PP criticizes that the Cabildo “has not dedicated not a single euro from the 2022 budget to solve the situation of road insecurity suffered by the users of this road, which is also a busy road for cyclists. Manuel Fernández insists that “it is necessary that, once and for all, the island government become aware that mobility is one of Tenerife’s great problems.”
He reproaches that while the Island Corporation’s Roads area “insists on launching headlines announcing macro-projects for trains and trams”, the reality is that “it is urgent that they start working on improving the roads that already exist and are used by thousands of people from Tenerife. every day”.
Restlessness
In relation to this issue, Fernández shows his “concern” about what he defines as “the low budget execution of the Cabildo in the field of Roads.” In this regard, he explains that this chapter in 2021 represented more than 40% of the total real investments planned by the Island Institution. However, “as of October 31, 2021, the level of execution of the investment chapter by the Cabildo was barely 35% of the initial budget, which means that more than 100 million euros were not invested” .
For Manuel Fernández, “these data are terrible news for Tenerife and the people of Tenerife, who witness, every year, a greater deterioration of our infrastructures, in general, and of the roads in particular, caused by two fundamental issues: on the one hand , the lack of vision of those responsible for the insular government, and, on the other, the total lack of capacity to execute the planned investments, especially in the road network of our Island».
The Popular Party will ask today, during the session of the Plenary Commission on Mobility, Sustainability and Roads, about the action forecasts that the Island Government has at the intersection between the TF-652 and TF-653 roads.
