SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The total demand for the Tenerife tram last year amounted to 12,500,694 passengers, 21 percent more than in the 2020 financial year (10,334,894) in such a way that the demand rates prior to the covid-19 pandemic continue to recover. 19, with 2,165,800 more passengers.
The vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, points out in a note that in the last two years the number of passengers on the tram has been recovering, “which shows that it is a safe means of mobility for the population and that the established prevention measures have taken hold, based on the guidelines of the Government of the Canary Islands at all times”.
In fact, it indicates that the demand forecast established last October has been exceeded, when it was estimated that 2021 would end with 12.4 million passengers and finally this figure has increased by 100,694 more users.
Since the Tenerife tram began its service to citizens, in 2007, there have been more than 193 million users (193,331,414 passengers) who have traveled on this means of public transport.
Both the Cabildo and Metrotenerife thank the passengers for their commitment to this means of public transport and the responsibility shown when using it, with compliance with mandatory measures such as the mask.
Since October 2020, and throughout the 2021 financial year, users have had the website at their disposal http://tranviaonline.metrotenerife.com, also available through the ten+móvil application, where the percentage of occupancy of each tram is reported in real time (over the limit established by the health authorities, not over the total capacity of the vehicle).
Thus, if a tram approaches the maximum capacity established by the relevant authorities, a sound warning will be issued at the stop, to urge passengers not to get on said vehicle.
