The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (Oafar), has selected the ten works that aspire to become the poster for Carnival 2022, and which will be submitted, starting this Thursday, day 13, to a popular digital voting process.
For the president of Oafar, Alfonso Cabello, “it is a matter of true pride, to see how enthusiasm and creativity remain intact in all facets of Carnival”, and highlighted “the love and commitment that the creatives have shown with our party. , both from the Canary Islands and abroad ”.
Cabello encouraged citizens to participate in “the popular online selection process that will be chosen by everyone’s cartel”, and recalled that “this Thursday, the 13th, the voting process will begin, which will be exclusively through the web www.carnavaldetenerife.es”.
The jury was made up of the artist Julio Nieto, the graduate in Fine Arts and graphic designer from Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA) Cristina Saavedra, the artist and graduate in Fine Arts Ana Seco and the president of the Culture Classroom of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pedro Mengíbar.
As established by the rules of the contest, the verdict has taken into account that the finalist works comply with sufficient plastic or artistic quality, in addition to the advertising effectiveness of the Science Fiction Carnival.
The current system establishes a dual voting mechanism. Once the digital counting is complete, the winner of the 2022 Carnival Party Announcing Poster will be designated by majority vote. It should be remembered that, at the end of December, from The Oafar announced the closing of the deadline for the presentation of works, having received a total of 16 proposals.
Santa Cruz has already presented the design of its stage for the Science Fiction Carnival, with a budget of 150,000 euros and whose assembly was scheduled to begin after the visit of the Magi.
