The La Orotava City Council confirms that the work of the access stairway to Los Patos beach, in the protected agricultural area of The corner, is back on track. At present, the Arcan construction company is carrying out the work to prepare the path that will reach the sand, with the help of small machinery and a reduced number of workers. The new budget amounts to 609,176 euros.
In the current phase, the work is focused on preparing the ground to guarantee a safe descent and on the placement of new protective meshes against possible landslides. The mayor of Town Planning of the Town Council, Narciso Pérez (CC), acknowledges that these are “very complicated jobs, on a cliff, where practically only one operator can be.”
The last delay was due to the resignation of the company that had been awarded the work, which forced the Consortium of El Rincón to reach a new agreement with one of the subcontractors of the performance. According to Gesplan, which is entrusted to the optional management, “the execution deadlines are being met.” With all the precautions that a work of these characteristics implies, which has been paralyzed on several occasions and which has already had three different awardees, there is the possibility that the staircase is completed by summer 2022. We are currently working with that forecast.
