The hotel structure will be demolished in 2023.

This January, the Infrastructure area of the Santa Cruz City Council will entrust the public company Gestur with the drafting of the project to demolish the abandoned hotel in Añaza, a demolition that will be carried out by the Urban Planning Department in a subsidiary manner. “We are confident that throughout 2022 we will have the project, and that in 2023 we can carry out the demolition of the building,” explained the Councilor for Urban Planning, Carlos Tarife.

The mayor explained that, once the hotel is demolished, the intention is to expropriate the land, “the idea is to make a viewpoint there or something similar. It is rustic land with a landscaping action, so nothing can be built ”.

In relation to that area, Tarife added that, “we are already in contact with the architects who won the competition to condition the coast of Añaza, the Pasea project, so that they can update it and when that is, we will sit down with Costas to see how we can execute that intervention ”.

Teresitas

The mayor of Urbanism also confirmed that he is still waiting for a meeting with the Cabildo de Tenerife to formally propose that the Special Plan of Las Teresitas can be approached as a project of insular interest, which would allow to intervene on the beach in a more quickly, without having to wait for the new General Plan to be approved. “Las Teresitas already needs a walk, lighting, sanitation, and we believe that it meets the requirements so that the Cabildo can intervene through an island interest plan.” Tarife, as he has already stated, insisted that “if it is necessary to renounce the most controversial part of the plan, and I am referring to the hotel plot, he would be willing to do so, as long as the project goes ahead.”

The mayor of Urbanism also advanced that the management technicians are already working to “unclog” the Valley of the Huertas. “We have already done the study of the property, and now we will inform the Compensation Board to carry out the urbanization of the area. In case it does not do it, then the City Council will do it ”.

The last of the matters related to the coast and that concern the Urban Planning Management is that of the back of the Palmetum. “I am convinced that it will be the best leisure area in the capital,” said Tarife. “On Tuesday, the Port already formalized the transfer of the land over the Marítima avenue tunnel to the City Council, to install there the playground for the Gesta of July 25, and we trust that, at the end of the month, it will do the same with the back of the Palmetum. As soon as that happens, the project in which the Infrastructures area is already working will be able to start up ”, concluded the mayor.
