SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Civil Guard of the Puerto del Rosario Post, within the framework of the ‘Operation Latxerpada’, has arrested and investigated two people for a continuous crime of fraud related to the rental of holiday villas on the island of Fuerteventura, mainly offered in the municipality of Antigua.
It is about a 32-year-old man who was arrested last Tuesday for a continuous crime of fraud, falsification of documents and another crime against industrial property, and a woman, also 32, who has been investigated for her relationship with the facts. The first has antecedents of the same nature.
The investigation began as a result of a complaint for an alleged crime of fraud, where the alleged perpetrators, after announcing the rental of a holiday villa under a false profile on Facebook, sometimes requested the payment of an amount of money as a reservation by bizum and in others through bank transfer. Once the payment was received, they stopped answering the victims’ calls and messages.
The same pattern and modus operandi was repeated in four of the complaints filed, the Civil Guard having located three more injured parties, so far not knowing the total amount of the fraud, since the existence of other injured parties is suspected.
Once the initial payment was received, this couple issued the false invoices for the reservation of the vacation rental villa under the name of commercial entities owned by third parties, using the same logos or registered trademarks of other entities to simulate companies of recognized prestige, These entities being harmed parties in the process, so that in addition to the crimes of fraud, the authorship of a crime of documentary falsification and another against industrial property was attributed, by using the corporate image of a registered trademark.
With this action, a continuing crime of fraud was clarified, which so far amounts to four affected families and two damaged companies, resulting in that these families never came to appear in the villages, since once they obtained the income the scammers did not respond to the affected.
The investigated person and the detainee have been made available to the corresponding Investigating Court acting as guard of Puerto del Rosario, the Civil Guard continuing with this open investigation, since new arrests and / or investigations are not ruled out. Likewise, complaints continue to be received at police stations for events of the same nature.
