The virus forces the postponement of the concert ‘Unidos por La Palma’ in Candelaria

Ómicron has gotten in the way of the Unidos por La Palma solidarity concert. The appointment scheduled for next January 2 in the Villa de Candelaria, which had generated great expectation and that Canary Television was preparing to broadcast live for the entire Archipelago, will be postponed due to the multiplication of infections by COVID-19, in accordance with the regulations of the health authorities, which recommend postponing public shows at the current alert level 3 on the island of Tenerife.

The postponement has caused grief, firstly because of the solidarity purpose of the initiative, and secondly because of the poster of participants that promised a night of emotions and good music. This time we will not be able to listen to Los Sabandeños, at the feet of the Patron, accompanying the sentiment of Luis Morera, nor the prodigious voice of Chago Melián, nor the enveloping melody of Braulio, nor the eternal song of María Mérida. Neither will the rhythm of Efecto Pasillo take the stage, nor will the talent of Lucrecia, Ciro Corujo, Pieles, Víctor Estárico, Claudia Álamo, Morocho, Andrea Rodríguez, Israel Martín and Africa Alonso.

After thinking about it a lot and rushing the deadlines to make a decision, the Candelaria City Council, in coordination with Los Sabandeños, Televisión Canaria and the companies promoting the concert (Oye, Xenox, Multitrack, Amy and Sonoluss Canarias) announced early in the morning of yesterday the postponement of an act that planned to bring together more than a thousand people in the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias.

From the Consistory chaired by Mari Brito it was reported that, “in the spirit of respecting the work carried out and not harming any company in the cultural sector, it is hoped to be able to recover the act of solidarity when the circumstances are conducive to meeting the objective set, which is none other than raising funds for the victims of the La Palma volcano ”.

In addition, the Candelaria City Council indicated that the people who purchased their tickets have already received an email notifying them of the suspension and that the amount of the tickets, as well as the contributions made to row zero, will be returned by the ticketera company in the course of the following days.
