The Plenary of the Cabildo de Tenerife has approved this Wednesday by a majority of PSOE, Cs and Sí Podemos the general budget of the Insular Corporation for the year 2022, which will exceed 874.3 million euros and registers a growth of 3.8 percent in relation to the present year.
The president, Pedro Martín, recalled that social care and the activation of the productive sectors are prioritized, in addition to territorial balance, so that the island accounts are a boost for the entire island.
Martín insisted that “the budget has been designed for everyone, taking into account not only the powerful investments for sectors that need it due to their social and economic representation, but also for others that are suffering, because they are often not given alternative from the administrations “.

The president also made reference to the current epidemiological situation and the consequences that, for almost two years now, the pandemic has been having in the socio-sanitary and economic sphere of the islands and, therefore, asked the political groups represented in the Cabildo to unite to face them.
“We trust that from here on we will continue to think about Tenerife because the situation is serious. Unfortunately, we are once again in a very complicated stage, therefore, we will have to continue promoting and working for this island, and I trust the support of all of you. The accounts include strategic planning to carry out actions with which to alleviate social needs, as well as to give impetus to the different sectors of the economy.
In this sense, the island budget shares objectives and is complemented by the recovery plans of the Government of the Canary Islands and the State.
In the area of investments, the Cabildo has planned 190 million euros for the execution of different works, infrastructures and public facilities throughout the island, with which it wants to promote socio-economic development.
For the execution of these investments, a loan of 70.3 million euros will be requested, an operation that seeks “a balance that allows to boost and activate the economy of Tenerife, and guarantee, at the same time, that the governments subsequent have the capacity to continue managing the Cabildo. “
