The City Council of La Laguna will not organize any celebration on the public highway on the night of the 31st next to celebrate New Year’s Eve. This was announced by the Councilor for Festivities, Badel Albelo, who explained that “if we stayed in phase 1, we had thought about holding some kind of celebration event in one of the stable cultural spaces or even enabling a space in La Concepción, but before the new epidemiological data, and exercising responsibility, we believe that the best thing is to be prudent and not celebrate anything ”.

In this sense, the mayor emphasized that this year’s La Laguna Christmas campaign wants to give priority to boys and girls. “The important thing is not New Year’s Eve, which is more for adults, but to focus efforts on children.”

In this regard, Albelo recalled that on the 22nd the Magi camp will open its doors in La Constitución Park, by time slots (from 4:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and from 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.), as well as with a maximum capacity 750 people, to guarantee preventive measures against the pandemic.

In addition, the mayor pointed out that “if we go to phase three”, which was confirmed yesterday afternoon, “the new tickets will not go on sale” announced last Wednesday and that involved some 2,700 more tickets.

Badel Albelo also announced that the Three Wise Men will carry out an itinerary, on January 2, 3 and 4, through various squares of the municipality, in a limited area and with capacity control, so that the children “come over, deliver their letter and take a photo, which will be delivered to parents via email, “he said. Thus, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will stop, from 11 am to 1 pm, on January 2 and 3 in Las Chumberas, Valle Tabares, Santa Catalina and Padre Anchieta; and on the 4th, in Las Carboneras, San Roque and La Barranquera.

These actions are added to the six royal delegations that, on January 5, will once again tour all the districts of the municipality.

60 royal mailboxes

On the other hand, the Commerce Area of the La Laguna City Council, led by María José Roca, announced yesterday that it has installed 60 decorated mailboxes in the commercial areas of the towns and neighborhoods throughout the municipality so that children can leave their letters to the Magi and Santa Claus.

The initiative is part of the revitalization actions in the open commercial areas and main spaces of the municipality.

These mailboxes are almost one meter high and are eco-sustainable, made with PVC-free vinyl, eco-soluble water-based latex inks and recyclable cardboard.
