The Anaga Biosphere Reserve yesterday held its general council at the headquarters of the Natural Environment and Security Management area of the Cabildo and electronically, in which representatives of the municipalities with ownership in the territory of this protected natural area participated, as well as representatives of the Government of the Canary Islands , neighborhood associations, fishermen’s associations, businessmen and businesswomen, and the president of the council, and councilor for Natural Environment Management and security of the Cabildo Isabel García.
“In this meeting we have discussed the advancement of the Reserve Action Plan, an essential document in the strategy of this important natural space and which has been designed based on the proposals and interventions of the citizens,” the area counselor stressed. In addition, he indicated that “the transfer of a space in the Environmental Education Center of the Anaga Rural Park in Pedro Álvarez has already materialized with the Tegueste city council, which will host the Reserve office.”
“In the process of preparing this plan, interviews have been carried out with key agents, workshops, meetings with municipal corporations, and also technical ones, such as with Balten, the Mobility area, the Barrios por el Empleo program, as well as specific workshops on the uses of the territory, the marine environment, volunteer organizations or with the residents of the massif ”, indicated García.
