Within the framework of the municipal strategy for improvement of the tourist and environmental competitiveness of the coastline located in Los Gigantes and Puerto de Santiago, the Santiago del Teide City Council is promoting the drafting of the urban park project in the Barranco de Lermes. The estimated value of the contract amounts to 70,093 euros and the document must be drawn up six months after the contract was signed. The deadline for submitting offers has expired, There are four companies that participated in this contest.
The scope of action covers an area of more than 23,000 square meters. The works to be carried out include the environmental and landscape rehabilitation of the ravine in order to develop tourist leisure activities in the area, complemented by other initiatives aimed at promoting the improvement of mobility in the town.

The basic project includes urbanization, landscaping and building interventions for the rehabilitation of the access area to the beach and solarium (an approximate area of 2,000 square meters); the landscape regeneration of the slope, including routes to connect with the town and access the park (an area estimated at 12,000 square meters); the rehabilitation of the bottom of the ravine, for recreational and restoration programs (the approximate area is 6,500 square meters), and the open modal interchange that connects, by means of a shuttle, the leisure offers of the coast (the area is 1,000 square meters ).
The future project contemplates the construction of a car park in said area, with capacity for 200 vehicles, initially. This infrastructure will use an area estimated at around 6,000 square meters. The mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, emphasizes this facility, which he describes as “vitally important” because its commissioning “will greatly alleviate the effects of the scarcity of parking and will help revitalize the area.” . Aspect that will also help the rest of the tourist and leisure activities that are contemplated in this strip of the municipality’s coast.
