SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Animalista-Pacma Party has submitted a letter to the Environment area of the Cabildo de La Palma to demand the creation of two shelters for homeless animals.
The formation indicates in a note that as a result of the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, thousands of animals were abandoned or lost their homes, being collected by the island’s protectors and these associations lack public facilities, so they depend on solidarity to attend to the large number of animals they are rescuing.
“The protectors urgently need public facilities where they can relocate the animals. Right now they depend on foster homes and have temporarily improvised a sports hall, a school, an old abandoned farm and land donated by private individuals. Many animals, hopefully They will be able to return to their families, but others will not be able to do so and they need a place to live in decent conditions “, declares Iris Sánchez, coordinator of Pacma in the Canary Islands.
The Animalista Party has maintained a close relationship with the protective palm trees and has made several collections of material and food to help them.
Thus, after analyzing the needs of the associations, a letter has been submitted to the Cabildo de La Palma demanding the creation of at least two reception centers for abandoned animals, which are managed by the protectors, one in the eastern area and another in the west.
“These entities are doing a commendable job, with hardly any means or resources. The only thing is that the Cabildo supports them and facilitates their work by providing the facilities they so badly need,” adds Sánchez.
