The Mayor reopens the Chinyero Volcanoes Interpretation Center

The Mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, has reopened the Chinyero Volcanoes Interpretation Center this Thursday, November 18, after a deep contextualization carried out by the Immersive Disclosure company and coinciding with the start date of the last volcanic eruption on the island. of Tenerife, that of the Chinyero volcano, which took place on November 18, 1909, 112 years ago.

The reopening ceremony was attended apart by the Mayor, the Councilor for Tourism, Luz Goretti Gorrín, the manager of the Immersive Disclosure company, Iván González who made a tour of those present in the center and everything new it offers as well as different members of the government group.

Emilio Navarro pointed out that “with this new reform we are taking a giant step to modernize this municipal facility that we inaugurated back in 2013, giving it a new boost through the use of new technologies and making it more interactive for visitors. Furthermore, we must not forget about it. of the educational part since it has helped us and will help us to know more about the volcanoes and how our ancestors lived that moment2.

For his part, Iván González, manager of the Immersive Disclosure company, indicated that what we have tried with this reform is to further contextualize the center, if possible, and for this we have improved the audiovisual exhibition part with larger screens so that the visitor simply, walking around, assimilates the concepts through the videos that are shown in different languages and you can understand just what is happening around you without having to read large texts “.

Finally, Luz Goretti Gorrín, Councilor for Tourism pointed out that “with the reform carried out in this interpretation center, you will understand what happened 112 years ago with the Chinyero eruption and, in addition, understand the volcanology on the island of Tenerife. For Santiago del Teide it is a fundamental pillar and a great claim for the nature product (ecotourism) of which we are a benchmark on the island of Tenerife “.
