The Arona City Council wants its neighbors to bet on their own commercial and restaurant fabric this Christmas, all with a campaign that, under the motto of Give Arona, aims to promote the recovery of employment and economic activity in the different commercial areas and centers that were not traditionally reached.
For this, and with unemployment data that are already slightly below those of before the economic crisis generated by the pandemic, the Economic Promotion area has launched a program to stimulate and support commercial activity with a dozen events that will begin this Friday, with the Vip friday from Las Galletas.
This was explained by the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, in a presentation in which he was accompanied by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Raquel García and by representatives of the commercial areas and areas of Valle San Lorenzo, Las Galletas, Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.
The familiar faces of the campaign will be the influencer Ruth Labory, as well as Aarón Gómez, who will star in the promotional video, as well as El Tipico de Tenerife.
Among the planned events are activities in all the centers, such as the traditional lighting of the lighting, as well as parades, itinerant recreational activities, gastronomic routes, competitions and children’s workshops, window contest or presentation of loyalty cards, among others. All this with the corresponding pertinent health security measures.
Under the motto Give Arona, the Christmas campaign will bring the Christmas spirit to the streets of the municipality from this Friday, November 19, until next January 5, coinciding with the expected Three Kings Day.
One of the big days will be Friday, November 26. That day the event will take place Chestnuts, sweets and wine in Valle San Lorenzo, a town where, in addition, one of the symbolic lighting of the Christmas lights will take place, next to Los Cristianos, Las Galletas, El Fraile and Playa de las Américas. All this in the evening-night of that day.
José Julián Mena: “Let it be bought and consumed in Arona”
José Julián Mena highlighted that “this is a campaign with a very clear objective: that it be bought and consumed in Arona, in the municipality. We want to encourage – he added – our neighbors to rely on the commercial fabric, in the shops, bars, cafes and restaurants that we have in the different centers. Buying in Arona is generating employment for our neighbors and is reinforcing the economic recovery that we are all looking forward to ”. The mayor pointed out that they have worked hand in hand with the different areas and commercial associations “and we wanted to go further than on other occasions, including nuclei that we did not always reach, such as Guaza, El Fraile, Cabo Blanco, La Camella o Playa de las Américas, which will have activities within this program ”.
Raquel García: “Support local commerce working hand in hand”
The Councilor for Economic Promotion has stressed the importance of “working together with the sector to implement a strategy as broad as possible that benefits all residents, since when we consume in Arona, we are betting on the municipality, generating economy and employment in it ”.
A complete program
The campaign will kick off this Friday, November 19 with the event Friday Vip in Las Galletas. It is an anticipatory business strategy for Black Friday, driven by the core Open Commercial Zone (ZCA). It will have commerce outside the stores, with models showing the latest trends, special decoration of the entire commercial area and distribution of cookies for visitors who come to buy.
November 26 will be the expected lighting of Christmas lights. Between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., the more than 1,600 Christmas motifs that will illuminate all the Arona festivities will light up little by little, going through all the centers and jumping from Los Cristianos to Las Galletas, passing through Las Américas and Valle San Lorenzo.
Coinciding with this, as is usual, the traditional event Chestnuts, sweets and wines will be held in Valle San Lorenzo, within the framework of the San Andrés festivities, and in which different establishments belonging to the Urban Commercial Area of the Valley will offer special promotions with interesting discounts. To this must be added the different activities that will take place in the Farmer’s Market.
On December 3, the presentation of the card will take place, also in Valle San Lorenzo Fan of the Valley, of loyalty with the commercial sector of this nucleus. Its presentation will take place in the Farmer’s Market as a meeting point between the primary sector and the commercial sector, and different activities will be carried out.
Guaza, El Fraile, Cabo Blanco and La Camella
On Saturday, December 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the action will be held in Las Galletas Your trade with soul, with the aim of publicizing the shops and restaurants of the ZCA. Among the different activities, visitors will be able to enjoy the traditional Canarian handicraft market, organized together with the Historic and Cultural Heritage Area of the City Council.
One of the most interesting revitalization activities is the so-called Christmas parade, with which the businesses of the nuclei that do not have ZCA will be promoted, in which the special protagonist will be a Christmas character who will go through the area and its establishments, in addition to other itinerant activities.
The first parade will arrive in Guaza on December 9. The next day he will tour El Fraile and on December 27 and 28 he will arrive at Cabo Blanco and La Camella, respectively.
On December 17, Give Arona It will arrive in Los Cristianos with a powerful program that will begin at five in the afternoon and will run until 9 pm. There will be live trade with models outside the commercial premises, a craft market, children’s workshops on Sweden Avenue and in the church square, the streets will be filled with Christmas characters to bring joy to children and adults. And one of the strengths will be the Gastronomic Route Taste of Christmas, reinforcing the restoration of Los Cristianos.
Las Galletas will continue on December 22 with another gastronomic event, Amadrina a dessert, in which the grandmothers will “give” their particular recipe for a dessert to the participating bars, cafes and restaurants, in a very original and familiar gastronomic route. All this, under the umbrella of an entertainment program that will run from 10 in the morning to eight at night, and in which there will be activities of all kinds to promote local commerce.
