SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, assured this Monday that “there will be no burning” of garbage in the environmental complex of Tenerife where it is planned to install a waste recovery plant.

In statements to journalists, he indicated that “it does not make sense” because the island government group (PSOE-Cs) “is against” the burning of waste and against continuing to dispose of garbage, on the contrary, he has said that there is look for alternatives and “recycle first” and then turn garbage into new products.

“We are on this path”, he indicated, underlining that valuing garbage is an “opportunity” to create jobs and new companies.

The Tenerife president has also said that it seems that “all this controversy” interests some companies “wanting to make noise” and political parties “that want to make disinformation a way to discredit the Cabildo.”

Martín has commented that in the project specifications “it is clear and resounding” that there will be no incineration and what the project deals with is to respond to the recycling model “of the 21st century” and also within the waste plan of the Government of Canary Islands.
