The Tenerife Symphony will begin a new season next week with a program that includes works by Schumann, Ravel, Strauss and Nicolai. The first concert, which will be directed by Christian Zacharias, will be on Friday, September 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Tenerife Auditorium, as reported by the Cabildo in a statement.
This inaugural act begins with the overture of The Merry Wives of Windsorby Otto Nicolai (1810-1849). It is the part most performed and known by the German composer, which begins with a very slow introduction that prepares the audience for a much more lively outcome.
The program will continue with the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in A minor, by Robert Schumman (1810-1856), an outstanding composition from the romantic repertoire in which the conductor himself will be the soloist at the piano.
The second part of the concert approaches the waltz, through Noble and sentimental waltzes, by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), which is composed of eight short pieces that Ravel decided to orchestrate a year after its composition to give music to the ballet Adélaïde or the language of flowers. The program ends with two works by Johan Strauss Jr. (1825-1899): Annen-Polka and the overture of The bat.
Tickets for the first seven concerts of the Symphony season can be purchased up to two hours before the concert at this page, at the Auditorium box office and by phone at 902 317 327 from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays.
