SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, and the Second Deputy of the Common Council, Milagros Fuentes, have met with the lawyer of the Dignity and Justice Association, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, who defends the memory and interests of the victims of terrorism of ETA.
The Diputación del Común will produce a report on these victims in the Canary Islands and on the state of their families. It will thus resume the line of work started after the approval by the Parliament of the Canary Islands of Proposition No. of Law on the 376 murdered by ETA without resolution.
Miguel Ángel Rodríguez recalled that of the nine murders of canaries registered, two have received justice, but 80% of cases in the Archipelago are still pending to be solved. “We find the case of the Canary Islands striking, and for this reason we go to Parliament, since the level of impunity for ETA crimes in Spain is 44%, while in the case of Canarian citizens, it is 80%, being one of the highest rates in the country, “he added.
The Common Deputy agreed to hold another meeting to advance the development of this report and collect the pertinent data for its preparation, in order to present it to the Parliament of the Canary Islands.
