The Los Realejos City Council will implement from next week and until the end of 2022, a pre-employment school for young people, an initiative that is part of the ‘Suma’ project, aimed at improving social and labor prospects, whose objectives are to give new opportunities for members of this group who, due to early school leaving, demotivation or other reasons, need a boost to reorient their lives.
The mayor, Manuel Domínguez, yesterday presented ‘Los Realejos Suma’ accompanied by the Councilor for Employment, Adolfo González, and the territorial director of the Don Bosco Foundation in the Canary Islands, Miguel Ángel Rojas. The latter entity, with extensive experience in socio-occupational training, will be responsible for developing this intervention strategy in a decentralized manner to better reach the entire population.
Thus, the pre-employment school will have its headquarters in the sociocultural center of La Montaña, where sessions aimed at promoting motivation and the acquisition of technical skills will be held, while the job orientation service, aimed at unemployed people from all over the municipality in a situation vulnerability, will be offered in the Social Work Unit of Toscal Longuera.
The third axis of ‘Suma’ is a network of agents for social and labor insertion, who will analyze the needs of unemployed people in vulnerable situations and will identify the real difficulties they present for their full inclusion in the labor market.
