HiperDino and the Cabildo de Tenerife have presented Tenerife GG (TGG), an event dedicated to the culture of videogames and technology, which will take place in July 2022 at the Tenerife Fairgrounds. The First Vice President and Minister of Innovation, Enrique Arriaga; the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutierrez; the Director of Marketing and Communication of HiperDino, Carlos García; and the CEO of the Canarian League of Esports HiperDino, Antonio Cabrera, were in charge of presenting this new appointment of digital culture. A group of gamers also participated in the event, who have carried out a sample of what will be the largest video game event at the regional level.
Arriaga indicated that “TGG will undoubtedly become one of the unavoidable and preferred appointments of video game lovers, companies in the sector and the general public” and added that “from the Innovation Area we work to promote the professional ecosystem through the new profiles that are generated around esports and gaming, aspects that have shown that they can become a great pole for generating employment in the future ”.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez stressed that “the municipality is committed to the avant-garde and technology with young people.” To which he added that “the event that from tomorrow until November 7 houses the Science and Technology Park, La Laguna Gaming Point, will be a small appetizer of what we can see at TGG.”
For Carlos García, “this is a commitment that HiperDino makes as part of our commitment to the development of the Canary Islands, to the future of this land and to young people.” He also pointed out that “in addition to meeting a demand from the gamer public and with an interest in new technologies, we contribute our grain of sand to the promotion of this industry in the archipelago and, with it, to the Canarian economy itself”.
Antonio Cabrera stressed that “TGG implies that gamers go home. After several years Tenerife finally returns to have a great event that will meet all the needs of gamers, but that will also go beyond what has been done so far ”. He stressed that “it is something that the whole team is especially excited about” and thanked “the Cabildo and HiperDino for the efforts made to make this project a reality; and also to the City Council of La Laguna for hosting La Laguna Gaming Point, an appointment in which we have been able to frame this announcement ”.
This initiative seeks to position Tenerife as a benchmark for gaming events at a national level and with international projection, and has the organization and production of the Canarian League of Esports HiperDino.
Tenerife GG (TGG) is presented as an evolution of other initiatives previously held in the islands, giving a greater boost to the development of the video game industry in the Canary Islands. It is also a firm commitment to trends such as esports or content streaming, which have experienced exponential growth in recent years. In addition to the internationalization of the festival, the event stands out for transcending the presence, since it offers all kinds of online activities before, during and after its celebration.
TGG aspires to be one of the largest technological events held to date in the Canary Islands and its budget will be covered, for the most part, by contributions from the private sector through collaborating companies that are committed to the development of the gaming sector in the islands.
For the direction and management of the project, the Tenerife Island Council and HiperDino have placed their trust in the Liga Canaria de Esports HiperDino (LCES), the largest regional esports competition in Spain that is promoted by HiperDino and where more than 23,000 gamers of the archipelago compete assiduously
At the head of LCES is Antonio Cabrera, founder and director of TLP Tenerife (formerly Tenerife Lan Party) during 10 of its 14 editions. Tenerife GG comes to collect the baton of this festival to be the meeting point of the gaming sector in the Canary Islands. This guarantees extensive experience in organizing events of this nature.
