Today’s latest news about the La Palma volcano
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A new mouth has opened on the flank of the Cumbre Vieja volcano at around 2:45 p.m., as reported by the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan), which has also captured images of an impressive lava overflow from the Tacande area.
The appearance of this new mouth coincides with the emission of an enormous quantity of lava in different points of the cone, especially towards the west, occupying the original stream, as a consequence of the modification and reconfiguration of the cone.
Thus, at the moment there are a series of lava channels that are contributing most of the flow to streams 1 (which formed the lava delta) and 4 (located above Todoque Mountain).
This greater contribution of lava is causing damage to houses that had been isolated on islands and that had managed to preserve themselves from the fire, especially in the Alcalá area.
