AUP-SSP spokesperson, Juan Siverio, asks the mayor, Ezequiel Domínguez (PSOE), that “initiate a sanctioning file in order to impose the legally applicable sanctions on whoever is responsible for the denounced events.” In addition, it urges him to demand “the reestablishment of the altered space and order the immediate collection of the debris illegally deposited for its dumping in authorized places.”
AUP-SSP requests the City Council to immediately warn of these facts to the Insular Directorate of Mobility and Promotion of the Island Council of Tenerife so that «it can carry out inquiries and proceed to the pertinent legal actions in accordance with the provisions of the Public Sector Contract Law, especially when the returns of bonds deposited for a work carried out in this environment are close and the denounced facts could suppose a breach of the contracting specifications and the administrative contract ”.
Neighbors in the area have informed AUP-SSP of the appearance of «a large number of trucks in the area where the spills occurred, in temporal coincidence with the remodeling works of the existing bus stop at kilometer 46.6 of the TF-5». A relationship that, in the opinion of the ecosocialist formation, “seems founded”, since the discharges “coincide on the date with this work, the only one of importance carried out in this period”, as stated in the complaint.
In its statement, AUP-SSP indicates that the company that was awarded this public work was “presumed responsible for the spills, which, according to the State contracting platform, was entrusted on May 21 by the Insular Directorate of Mobility and Promotion of the Island Council of Tenerife for an amount of 201,641.55 euros, and with an execution period of five months, so it would be close to completion “.
The Rambler Government has responded to EL DÍA that “as a result of the brief presented by AUP-SSP, the City Council has started an investigation, initiating an investigation file to confirm that debris deposit illegally in a ravine ». In the event that the technical office considers the spill and its origin proven, «the file will be sent to the corresponding area of the Cabildo de Tenerife to request the company that executes the work to remove the debris. In the event that the Cabildo did not act, the City Council would require the company, as long as its responsibility is confirmed.
