They urgently repair a retaining wall in Punta de Teno

The Cabildo de Tenerife Highways area has begun the restoration of a wall, on the TF-445 road, which gives access to Punta de Teno, in the municipality of Buenavista.

These structures are made of metal meshes that are filled with rocks and are designed to retain debris after landslides.

The works have a budget of 42,573 euros and are expected to be carried out within a month, details the island corporation in a statement.

According to the insular counselor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, it is an emergency work to prevent the fall of debris on the road “after the continuous episodes of landslides detected in the area have accumulated gravel and large rocks behind the wall. size that could fall on the road ”.

The action will consist of the removal of the detached material, and the repair and regrowth of the retaining wall.

The works will be carried out during the day and it will be necessary to make specific cuts in traffic that will be signaled, explains Arriaga.

This action is in addition to other works that the area also carries out on this access road to the Teno lighthouse, such as the repair and cleaning of the retention meshes installed on the left side of the road.

The operators, specialists in vertical work, are removing stones from the meshes and replacing some anchor cables.
