SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has concluded the administration of the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the residences for the elderly and the social and health centers of the archipelago.
This was indicated this Friday by the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Olivera, during the press conference after the Government Council, where he added that the only residence without this administration is that of Santa Rita due to a covid outbreak, although it will be inoculated from as possible.
For its part, the administration of the third dose to people over 70 years of age is being organized at the moment and the forecast is that it will begin during the second half of this month of October.
Regarding the vaccination campaign for the entire target population, Olivera pointed out that its progress has allowed the number of infections to fall, “but it is true that the vaccination process is stagnating.”
However, right now 83% of the target population has the complete regimen and 85% of people have the first dose. “The pace that in previous months has been very fast, is now reaching a limit,” he said.
“That is why – he continued – we remind people who have not been vaccinated of the importance it has for their own health and for that of others. We appeal to your generosity to be able to reach the maximum possible vaccination because the figures show that it works “.
Finally, regarding the Covid alert level in the Canary Islands, all the islands are at level 1 except Fuerteventura, which is at level 2, although predictably if the figures continue at the current rate it will also drop to level 1.
