The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the delegated area of Foreign Action, has acquired an ambulance from the Red Cross to transfer it to the municipality of Dangalma, in Senegal.
On the morning of this Thursday, the vehicle was shipped to the African country, with the presence of the Councilor for Foreign Action of the Cabildo, Liskel Álvarez and the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García.
The Cabildo has been developing various projects for years that seek to promote economic, social and cultural relations with the countries that make up West Africa, with special emphasis on cooperation to promote and socio-economic development between both territories in order to contribute to the improvement regional integration in nearby countries, reducing the barriers that limit the exchange possibilities of these regions.
“Among the actions that we develop in Senegal we have studied the health field with special attention, and we have believed that the transfer of an ambulance will facilitate the work carried out by the health centers that serve isolated rural communities in the country, allowing to reduce the effective times of intervention in patient care, “said the CEO of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez.
However, he points out, “we have bought from the Red Cross, for a symbolic value of 1 euro, a Fiat ambulance model ‘Ducato’ that is in perfect condition and with basic equipment for its commissioning, in order to contribute to the The international cooperation strategy that the island corporation has been carrying out and therefore this vehicle that we trust will help the community in the country leaves for Africa “.
The Cabildo Highways area, in order to avoid the deterioration of the vehicle and since the Red Cross did not have an adequate space to house the vehicle, made the necessary arrangements for its reception in the road park located in La Cuesta.
