Coalition warns that the solution for the dilapidated Iders building “is going to long”

«When we have requested information in committees and plenary sessions on these solutions, what does the PSOE, our surprise is that nothing goes beyond what was outlined in the last mandate. Everything is pending from the Urban Development Consortium for the Rehabilitation of Puerto de la Cruz and the negotiation with the owners, to be able to include Iders in the second Modernization and Improvement Plan (PMM II). Therefore, this is going to last, ”insists Sandra Rodríguez.

The nationalist mayor recalls that “due to confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic, the social and coexistence problem in the Iders building increased. So we asked for an intervention and almost a year ago they told us that they were awaiting the report of Public health. That report, which was requested late, did not arrive until July 2021 and said what we all already knew: that this property does not meet the health and hygiene conditions. We are in October and they have not done anything yet. It’s sad”.

Rodríguez does recognize the work of the Social Law area: «I know that they are acting to the best of their ability, also thanks to agreements with Cáritas. They are working on that, but they are not making progress in cleaning up and it has to be carried out no matter what the reports say and at all costs ».

The CC-PNC spokeswoman points out that the Iders health problem “has also worsened because the lack of a maintenance contract for the underground containers has forced them to be closed. Now there is even more garbage outside in the area and more bad smells. In Sandra Rodríguez’s opinion, “the mayor once again fails the citizens because he had a clear commitment. He promised that they would clean, we have offered him our support to carry out that cleaning, but we still have no record of even asking for the owners.

THE DAY tried yesterday, without success, to know the plans of the local government (PSOE-ACP) regarding the announced cleaning and disinfection of the Iders building, which was announced to take place in July and three months later, is still pending.
