LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, Sep 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, stressed that people’s safety is a “priority” after the decision of the Pevolca Steering Committee to maintain the evictions carried out on Friday.

“We are still very aware of the evolution of the La Palma eruption. The Pevolca steering committee considers it necessary to maintain the preventive evacuation of some population centers that were evicted yesterday. The safety of the people is a priority,” said the highest regional leader in his social networks.

For its part, this Friday the evacuation of some 160 residents of the neighborhoods of Tajuya and Tacande de Abajo and Tacande de Arriba – those who had not yet been evacuated – were ordered due to the intensification of the explosive activity in Cumbre Vieja, which went down during the night but rose again during the morning.
