The island president, Pedro Martin (PSOE), attended the inauguration and appreciated “the mayor’s push for this new infrastructure, since he opted to improve a project that was much less ambitious, embodied in a 2017 agreement, and turn it into a space for the enjoyment of all generations of the neighborhood. The mayor, Juan Antonio García Abreu (PSOE), thanked the Cabildo for its commitment to the municipality and assured that Los Arroyos will be “a model for the rest of the neighborhoods.”
Pedro Martín also valued the inclusive nature of the park, “so that the child population and the elderly can interact, enjoying, at the same time, a spacious and welcoming space.” García Abreu added that “Los Arroyos is already a benchmark for the municipality of La Victoria de Acentejo, since it has a cultural center, a square, a sports center and, now, a park where neighbors of all ages can play, play sports, spend time together and improve their quality of life. The socialist leader assured that heThis is’ just the first of other new parks, like the one we are already doing in Santo Domingo and the one planned in La Resbala ».
Outdoor sport
The insular director of Sports, Laura Castro, highlighted the park’s bio-healthy nature: “A study carried out by this government team revealed that the population is increasingly looking for more open spaces to exercise. And this is the reason why we have worked, side by side with the city council, so that this infrastructure was part of the Outdoor Sports Facilities Program ”.
