The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Sustainable Development and Fight against Climate Change Area, has awarded a grant of 78,000 euros to the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the implementation of the project ‘Companies of the Common Good and Business Environmental Advisory Service ‘.
The project, which is included in the framework financing agreement recently signed between the Cabildo and the Chamber for the period 2021-2024, seeks to inform and advise users and users of the environmental obligations to which economic activity, the adequate management of environmental waste, good environmental practices, the location of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) in the company, sustainable green and blue employment and its link with the Bank of Sustainable Environmental Business Ideas of the Cabildo (BINAS), dissemination of the economic model of the Economy of the Common Good (EBC) among companies and organizations, including informative, training and consulting actions.
The island councilor Javier Rodríguez emphasizes that the Sustainable Development area is working to “instill the principles of the economy of the common good and the SDGs in all the actions of the Cabildo, with the ultimate goal of making Tenerife a more sustainable island “.
In this sense, he comments, “it is essential to get the involvement of the business sector, therefore, we understand that the Chamber of Commerce is the best way to reach this important sector.”
Rodríguez points out that “the subsidy and the advice line intend to offer companies collaboration and help, not only economic, but also technical, to achieve a more environmental and sustainable vision”.
In the same way, thanks to this initiative, information will be provided on environmental legislation and certification, aid and subsidies related to the environment and sustainability and the carrying out of studies and reports that are considered of interest in terms of sustainable development and the fight against change. climate, and related in the framework agreement, among other issues.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago Sesé, recently renewed the agreement to improve and boost productivity and competitiveness of the island’s business fabric 2021- 2024, through which policies to promote and consolidate the island’s companies will be articulated, especially aimed at SMEs, in terms of entrepreneurship, internationalization, innovation, sustainability, promotion of employment and digital transformation.
For the execution of this agreement, the Cabildo will allocate this year 427,567 euros with which it will contribute to finance a total of 14 projects.
In addition, this economic item will be complemented with European funds amounting to 831,700 euros that the Chamber will manage and that, in total, will mean an injection of resources for the island of 1,260,000 euros.
