The lagoon town of Guamasa celebrated the Pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador this Sunday, where dozens of families, associations, and folkloric groups gathered to pay homage to the patron saint of farmers.

The program, which started at 2:00 PM from the church square, brought together 27 carts, 10 traditional wagons, and 25 folkloric groups, creating a colorful and musical procession that traveled the path of Santa Rosa de Lima, the main road of the North, the El Boquerón connection, and the Paseo de las Acacias, to return again to the starting point.

The mayor of Aguere, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, highlighted through his social networks that “almost thirty carts, as well as wagons and groups, have gathered today in Guamasa to celebrate the pilgrimage in honor of San Isidro Labrador. A close, friendly pilgrimage with a great love for our traditions.”

The mayor emphasized the pride the lagoon residents feel participating in an event that, as he noted, “brings together different generations properly dressed in their traditional costumes” and in which the Dance of Guamasa also played a leading role.

The Pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador in Guamasa holds a prominent place within the program of festivities of La Laguna, which began days before with the Romería Chica, organized by the PTA and the educational community of CEIP Santa Rosa de Lima, and the gala for electing the Main Romera and Elder Romera. The festive calendar will continue this Monday, June 2, with the Day of the Elders, an event that will include an excursion, neighborhood gathering, and dances enlivened by the soloist Francisco.
