AENA (Spanish Airports and Air Navigation) has joined the celebration of Canary Islands Day with an initiative that will delight all tourists and passengers arriving at or departing from any of these archipelago’s airports. The organizers will distribute cheese and bananas from the island to commemorate May 30th.
With this initiative, AENA aims not only to commemorate Canary Islands Day but also to celebrate Canarian cultural identity and promote the islands’ gastronomic richness among visitors enjoying their holidays.
These are the airports where Canarian bananas and cheese are given away
The airports where this activity is taking place are César Manrique-Lanzarote (ACE) and Tenerife South (TFS), in collaboration with the Center of Initiatives and Tourism of the Southern Counties of Tenerife (CIT Sur), an entity promoting the area’s tourism and commercial development.
The selected products to be given away are the Canarian banana, with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), one of the islands’ international symbols, and Canarian goat cheese, in its various varieties, which has won numerous international awards for its quality. Distributing them among passengers is a symbolic way to share the essence of the archipelago with those arriving or leaving on Canary Islands Day.
