The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the nationalist José Manuel Bermúdez, on Thursday, May 26, made his stance clear regarding the ongoing debate about Sunday commercial openings in the capital. If a consensus is not reached among the sectors involved so that the major stores in the center can also open on Sundays, “everything will remain the same.” Therefore, considering that the Association of Entrepreneurs Zona Centro and the Federation of Urban Areas (Fauca) have already expressed their opposition to this possibility, the major stores will be left alone in defending flexible hours in Santa Cruz and in their push for “this city to have life on Sundays.”
