When all of Spain was confined to their homes due to the state of alarm as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the inmate population of the Tenerife II penitentiary center feared a decrease in the illicit entry of drugs into the center, something they had been accustomed to with some regularity in previous times.
Despite the strict surveillance controls carried out in the prison to prevent the introduction of prohibited items by family and friends or during visits, it is almost impossible to control everything, and occasionally, these prohibited items have reached the inmate population.
