Pedro Martín (PSOE) to Step Down Next Week as Tenerife Councilor

The president of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, announced this Friday during the plenary session of the island corporation that next week he will no longer continue in his role as a councilor of the institution. He decided to make this announcement in advance, he said, out of “institutional respect” for his colleagues in the Cabildo.

At the end of this Thursday’s plenary, Martín asked the island’s president, Rosa Dávila, for permission to speak to announce his farewell, as an island councilor, taking the opportunity to thank his Group, the Socialist Group, for their “loyalty and unconditional support” shown during this time, “through thick and thin.”

“And to the rest of the political groups, I wish the best personally and for their families, and who knows if we will meet again in this corporation or in others. In any case, I will take away good memories from this experience and the pride of having been president and councilor in the opposition of the Cabildo of Tenerife,” he added.

From the different political groups, they wished him the best personally and professionally. For her part, the island’s president, Rosa Dávila, highlighted his tenure at the head of the Cabildo—”he will always be president of this Cabildo”—and conveyed to him the “importance” of his presidency of the Socialist Group, for the “affable and cordial” tone maintained. “I thank you for facilitating the presidency and the management of this plenary.”
