A worker experienced a workplace accident on Thursday while performing maintenance at the Tenerife tram substation. This incident led to a temporary service stoppage, delaying the full recovery of public transport for around an hour.
According to Metranertife and Europa Press, traffic circulation resumed on both lines after 12:00, and normal service frequencies have since been restored.
Representatives from the workers’ union have reported that the accident occurred around 11:23. The worker sustained “serious” burns while conducting maintenance work at the Guajara substation, although the exact causes are still under investigation.
The drop in voltage caused by the accident halted traffic circulation and necessitated the evacuation of users to the nearest stops. However, it appears that there were no significant disruptions to urban mobility because the tram’s stoppage did not impede road traffic, as reported by Metroenrifefe.
