José Carlos Francisco, former Minister of Economy and Finance and Health and Consumption of the Government of Canarias, and current president of the CEOE of Tenerife, analyzes in The Big Problem which are the channels for the Archipelago to follow the rate of change to which technology has subjected the world and why it should try to do so.
Francisco emphasizes in the book the need to undertake profound changes so that the Islands can join the leading car of the economy. “Technology advances by leaps and bounds but the changes necessary to keep up with the leading nations do not come”, is inferred after reading the first chapters of the volume, in which he analyzes the situation of the Archipelago since the beginning of the century and the increase year by year of the gap in terms of GDP with the rest of the State and Europe.
Francisco aims with this book that the debate on the inequality in the economic growth of the Islands – for which he proposes possible solutions – is installed in society in order to promote new approaches for better development.
