The Ibarra clinched fourth place in the standings of the Canarian Group of Third RFEF after defeating their upcoming promotion rival, Tamaraceite, with a score of 3-1. The team from Gran Canaria will face Tenerife again this weekend in the first leg of the playoff semifinals, with the return leg taking place the following week at Juan Guedes.
The Galletero squad started strongly and led by two goals at half-time, further extending their lead in the second half. On the other hand, the blue and white team could only reduce the deficit from a set piece in the final moments.
The team managed by Diego Maradona Jr. threatened early, with Borja’s attempt being saved by Galindo just two minutes in, followed by a free header from Arturo that went off target. Subsequently, Joshua exploited the right flank and forced the Támara goalkeeper to concede a corner, although it was the attacker himself who scored the first goal after a successful ball interception, making it 1-0.
Despite this setback, Tamaraceite struggled to respond and barely made it into the opposing area, managing only one notable opportunity: a free kick from Julio Rengel that Sergio deflected for a corner. Meanwhile, the Galletero team maintained their dominance, and just before the break, they increased their advantage to 2-0 through an Abián cross from the left that Arturo converted into a goal.
Upon resuming play, Iván Martín’s side aimed to counter the situation, creating some early chances. Sergio effectively dealt with the first long-range attempt from Andrés Rivero, who later compelled the local goalkeeper to make an impressive save from within the box. In a quick response, Galindo mirrored this by saving Borja’s attempt.
In the 71st minute, Lisandro delivered a cross into the area from the left, which Sebas finished clinically, sealing the match. Following this goal, chances became scarce for both teams, although Julio Báez managed to reduce the margin just before the final whistle with a free kick that found the top corner.
